I met Shipeng in the summer of 1985. It has been 30 years since I know him and we have been married for 28 years.

Shipeng went to Shanghai Textile University in 1977. He was one of the first scholar sent to US by the Chinese Gvernment after culture revolution.

Our friend XiaoHong took care of Aurea after Shipeng’s car accident in Norman Oklahoma in 1996. She was the only friend I have in Dallas at the time as we just moved here from Montreal Canada. Xiaohong has set up the help group to help me while Shipeng was in ICU after his last bike accident. She accompanied me to the funeral home and have worked hard to prepare the White Rock memorial for Shipeng.

Our friend Susan is the first person I called from hospital. She spent the 5/14 night in hospital with us. Ziyong and Jie drove from Houston to Dallas to visit Shipeng in 5/23. Bo flew from Atlanta in 6/2 to attend Shipeng memorial.

Biaodong and Yibo are my extended family. Biaodong flew from San francisco, Yibo drove from Houston to attend Shipeng’s memorial in 6/2.

I did not know Feng before Shipeng’s accident. She was the organizer of the Cisco support group, has helped we with all logistics in Shipeng’s last day, has accompanied me to the funeral home and then has put in a great deal of works in organizing Shipeng’s memorial at White Rock. There is no other way to pay her back for her extrodinary kindness and friendship. I will be her friend forever for what she has done for me.

These were Shipeng’s colleagues @ IP Mobile. Shipeng took a offer to work for IP mobile after he decided not to move to San Jose for a job offer by Cisco. And IP Mobile was bought by Cisco a few months after he join.

His biking friends are my real jealousy: he announced to me that he would need to “reserve” every Sunday for biking with friends. After some negotiation, he agreed to reserve Saturday to social with me.

Life was exciting for Shipeng after we were “empty nester”. He was reckless, pushing his performance limits for biking and he set many new goals for himself in life. He told me he would spend more time biking after retirement.

Dr. Jon Mentor and Dr. John Krodel were Shipeng’s attending physician while he was in ICU in Normal hospital in Oklahoma. Dr. Mentor worked around the clock on a emergency surgery on him. Dr. Krodel was in charge of his care during his entire stay in Norman hospital. I took Shipeng back to see his accident site and meet the two doctors for lunch.

I joked about the many “girl friends” Shipeng did not know he had in my memorial speech. I am very very touched by their love to him.

Tim Earl gave Shipeng his first job when we move here in 1995. He pick up Shipeng at the airport. He was with us on Shipeng’s car accident 1996 in Norman Oklahoma and has been in touch till now.

I thank Shipeng to bring so many more friends to my life. Without all of you I could not have survived his passing same way.
